From a young age, Kurumi Mirai has aspired to become a magician. Driven by her ambition, she has spent her childhood preparing to join the prestigious Rettoran Academy of Magic. Although Kurumi excels in the selection exam, her dream is crushed when she is not chosen for the elite magic class. Admitted to the standard class at the academy instead, Kurumi soon befriends Maki Kumiiru, her new roommate; and Yuzu Edel, another girl unhappy with her placement. However, to everyone's surprise, their homeroom teacher, Minami Suzuki, promises to teach the class magic anyway. Although skeptical at first, the girls start to believe that this may be their second chance at realizing their dreams and becoming wonderful magicians.

Based on long running manga by Tatsuya Egawa (Golden Boy). It tells the tale of final-year high-schooler, Murakami Naoki who falls for Mizuno Haruka as they make university entrance exams preparations.

In the beginning, an "orb" is cast unto Earth. "It" can do two things: change into the form of the thing that stimulates "it"; and come back to life after death. "It" morphs from orb to rock, then to wolf, and finally to boy, but roams about like a newborn who knows nothing. As a boy, "it" becomes Fushi. Through encounters with human kindness, Fushi not only gains survival skills but grows as a "person". But his journey is darkened by the inexplicable and destructive enemy Nokker and cruel partings with the people he loves.
